Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) has virtue of light weight, high strength, high corrosion resistance, easy molding and so forth, which has been successfully applied in the reinforcement of existing structures in recent years and Research on the mechanical properties of frp at home and abroad shows that many advantages in the new structures (such as bridge decks) besides. And study of basalt fibre reinforced polymer(BFRP), an emerging composite of high comprehensive performances, also give high evaluation to BFRP.

According to the research, transverse shear test are carried out with all kinds of diameters and different types. The result showed that the shear strength of BFRP tendons is about 200Mpa, and the diameters and resin types have little influence for that.

BFRP rebar, which chose basalt fiber as reinforced material , has highly strength and modulus than GFRP.

Research on the mechanical properties of frp at home and abroad mainly concentrated in uniaxial tension of CFRP and GFRP so far, which was applied to sheet externally boned reinforcement correspondingly. And study of basalt fibre reinforced polymer(BFRP), an emerging composite of high comprehensive performances, was still not that much in order to investigate and evaluate the properties of BFRP thoroughly and systematically, so as to provide reliable data for its application in civil engineering research of the following aspects was performed in this paper.
